THROUGH THIS SITE I SHOW THE THREE DIFFERENT LIQUIDS I TRIEND ON MY MOSS TO KEEP MY GRASS AND GET RID OF PESKY WASHINGTON MOSS

If you pour dog urine over growing moss it will kill the most moss because of the high acidity level. In this experiment I will take lemon juice, dog urine, and vinegar, and pour each solution over a small mossy area to see which kills the most moss. In my research that I have taken, it shows that the highest acidity level of these solutions is dog urine and that is why i belive it will kill the most moss. " Acid either destroy the plant tissue killing it directly or it may cause the pH of the soil to become to acidic reducing the uptake of nutrients and water that the plant requires" -(Bruce Pedersen Answers.com). You can measure the acidityl evel of solutions by their pH. The pH of a lemon is 2, the pH of dog urine is 7,and the pH of vinegar is 2.4.

PROCEDURE

1) acquire 4 lemons, vinegar, and dog urine.

-To collect dog urine I simply cut a plastic cup to half the size that way it would be easier to reach under as they are releaving themselves. I put on rubber gloves and collected multiple samples throughout the day.

2) Measure out 2 1/2 TBSP of each of the solutions, then add about 1/4 cup of water.

-I added water that way there was more to spread the solutions around each mossy patch.

3) Use stakes to plot the four different sections of moss that youw ill use.

4) Use three of the slots for the solutions and one for your control becuase the environment may change too

5) pour each solution over a different patch of moss and grass. try to do this twice a day to get the best results

6) record the amount of color change each day.

DATA

Day 1: placed all solutions on each slot at 5:00

Day 2: not much color change but you can see the trail from both the dog urine and the vinegar. poured on at 7:00am and 5:00pm

Day 3: you can see the trails of the dog urine very clearly and slightly see the vinegar form the day before.

Day 4: see all lines from dog urine and some from vinegar:

LEFT: dog urine MIDDLE: lemon juice RIGHT:vinegar
